    Description

The amp is in good condition , working when I received it There are certain issues that have to be checked with this vintage of DC300A- and then they are now  OK.   It had never failed  as far as  the outputs go...   I make sure  the setup controls are good and set the amp up. It has low offset. within a minute or so of run.    The bias is still right on.  I have a special   interest in DC300s- They were the workhorse amp of the 70s and 80s.   I always liked their design  and the appearance.   Back in the 1970s I had worked for a sound company that installed "discos".  They were a Crown dealership , and when we had a installation  in Gary (Indiana)  we were invited to see the Mishawaka Road facility .   The tour included  the production, including DC300A.  I remember seeing an area where  a few dozen  DC300s  were under power and load, to check  for what they called "Infant mortality".    To this day. they remain a benchmark  of accurate sound-    I was always  amazed how they sound like a much more powerful  amp. It is because of the  (huge) power supply - as it approaches  clipping   there  is a minimum  of offset .  For the most part I see them to drive 2ohm  load.  but it must have a fan right on it.  I always add the input blocking capacitors to be safe, otherwise they will amplify any DC input to the output.   Thanks for your interest, and for reading my story!
