    Description

    Offering a
    rare
vintage 1930's LIFETIME CORP Model 6 Ring Spring Carbon Microphone
    .
While two of the major producers of spring carbon mics, Continental and Universal, were based in California,
Lifetime Corporation hailed from Toledo, Ohio.  Several different spring carbon microphone models produced by Lifetime including a Model 6 like this one, as well as a Model 8 and Model 99. Notably, David Letterman was
given one of these Lifetime Model 6 microphones by the CBS crew and staff of the LATE SHOW in celebration of his first 10 years on the show.
These carbon mics required an external DC power source, so this one remains untested and is
being sold for display or prop purposes
. The chromed ring and base show some wear and pitting, and supports a double-button carbon element suspended by 8 springs. These mics were occasionally suspended from the ceiling, thus the loop at the top of the ring. The base has new felt material to protect your desktop. The ring measures 5" in diameter with the overall height at 8".
