Description
Offering a late 1930'sAmperite RBH bi-directional ribbon microphone
. Amperite actually began in the 1920's and by the end of the 30's they were producing their own line of microphones. This RHB model was one of the company's "
professional models
" from the later 30's, advertised as '
Studio microphones at P.A. prices, the ultimate in microphone quality
'. Amperite being the main microphone company of New York, their mics became popular in many of the city's clubs, ballrooms, and studios during the Big Band era. They were favored by many vocalists in New York in the late 30's and 40's like Billie Holiday and Frank Sinatra. After a successful 2 decade run, Amperite stopped making mics in the 50's.
This one is in
very nice condition
, no scratches, cracks, dents, or scratches, overall very clean. Testing reveals
good working order with strong output and rich fidelity for its original ribbon motor
. (
A new high-quality Geistnote transformer has been installed to improve the sound
.) The original yoke supports the mic
and
includes the short Amphenol cable
with male XLR plug on the opposing end.
(We can install a 1/4" male phono plug if you prefer at no charge.) The on-off switch is a little stiff, but functions as it should...and check out that nice brass Amperite switch plate.
The desk stand shown IS INCLUDED.
Overall height is 15-18". **
